The pandemic reshaped the cultural sector overnight. As museums and heritage sites closed their doors, teams were furloughed, programmes suspended, and revenue streams stalled. Yet in the face of deep disruption, the sector responded with remarkable creativity and resilience.
Barker Langham Analytics (BLA) was developed during this period as a free, cloud-based tool to support cultural organisations through uncertainty. Designed specifically for the sector, BLA enabled over 400 institutions to explore financial scenarios, stress-test assumptions, and plan for multiple futures – all in real time.
This dynamic platform helped shift organisations away from static spreadsheets and towards agile, evidence-based decision-making. More than a response to crisis, BLA became a catalyst for change – empowering teams to rethink the role of culture, reconnect with audiences, and model new possibilities.
We offered BLA free of charge for three years, helping the sector not just to survive, but to evolve.
