Artists in Residence

The concept of an artist residency has changed drastically in recent years. A month spent making work in a remote, secluded location has given way to on-site residencies, where the artists invite the host institution as well as the public to engage with their work. Today’s artist residencies offer a new path for cultural organisations to reach their communities, drawing fresh audiences and bringing new perspectives to a museum or heritage site. Barker Langham develops residency programmes by first mapping the local creative ecosystem, identifying opportunities to engage a variety of audiences. After making connections with the right partners, we create a programme that fits the host institution's vision and values, and supports the next generation of artists.
